The ranks of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Abia State chapter, received a boost yesterday with the defection of thousands of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) faithful in the state at a PDP campaign rally in Umunneochi and Ohafia Local Government Areas.
The decampees, who stormed the PDP rally in their numbers, comprised youth, women and men.
Leader of the defectors in Ohafia, who was deputy to the APGA factional gubernatorial candidate, Chief Nnaoke Uduma, said that they have no other option but to join the winning team.
According to Uduma, the PDP candidate, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, remained the best choice for the senatorial seat in Abia North.
Also speaking, the spokesperson of the defectors in Umunneochi, Mr Christian Onyedikachi, said they regretted joining APGA, promising to work hard with the other members of the party to deliver all PDP candidates in the forthcoming elections.
Receiving the decampees into the PDP fold, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu assured them that they had made the right choice as the PDP remained the party to beat in the state.
Gov. Ikpeazu also implored the PDP members to accept the new entrants in the party and work with them to ensure success.
