On this day in 2015: The opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) declared victory for its candidate, former military ruler Muhammadu Buhari, in the March 28 presidential election.

Also on this day in 2014: Court ruled that lawmakers who defected to the main opposition coalition in December must vacate their seats. This was a victory for President Goodluck Jonathan ahead of what was a closely fought election in February 2015.
Equally on this day in 2013: Nigerian troops claim to have killed fourteen suspected militants that were a part of the Boko Haram rebel group in the city of Kano. The Nigerian military stated that the group had been planning attacks on Easter.
