We’ve Not Arrested Anybody That Didn’t Commit An Offence, EFCC Says

Ibrahim MaguThe Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has disclosed that its searchlight is beamed only on those who have plundered Nigeria’s resources, not witch-hunting members of the opposition.

The acting chairman of EFCC, Mr Ibrahim Magu made the disclosure Tuesday in an interview with journalists after his visit to the headquarters of Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) in Abuja.

Mr Magu reiterated that the commission’s anti-corruption war is not selective, saying the EFCC is only going after corrupt politicians irrespective of their political affiliations.

“It is not true that we are selective in our fight against corruption. We are arresting all the corrupt people, we have not arrested anybody that has not committed any offence. We are winning the war and we will win at the end of the day”, Magu said.

Earlier, the EFCC boss had solicited for the support of NIPOST in helping to create awareness on the fight against corruption.

In his response, the Acting Post Master General of NIPOST, Mr Enoch Ade Ogun, said the agency had been collaborating with the anti-graft agency in stamping out corruption.

Mr. Ogun revealed that N82 billion financial instruments were recovered by joint team of EFCC and NIPOST officials in 2015.
