World’s Smallest Monkeys Give Birth

A pair of pygmy marmoset monkeys at an Australian wildlife sanctuary gave birth to some extremely tiny babies. Symbio Wildlife Park in New South Wales shared a video announcing the birth of the baby monkeys, showing them riding along on their mother’s back.

“World’s smallest monkeys ‘Iti and Gomez, the pygmy marmosets’, have celebrated the arrival of two precious little miracles, weighing in at just 15 [grams],” they wrote.

Pygmy marmosets reach a maximum weight of about 3 ounces and when fully grown can fit inside a human hand.

The exceptionally small babies make even their tiny parents seem large in comparison as both newborns cling comfortably to their mother’s back.
