The Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase yesterday, vowed to prosecute any officer found to have compromised in his line of duty.
He said this following reports that his officers compromised during last Monday’s attack by Fulani herdsmen on a community in Enugu State.
“I am not happy about what has happened and that is why I have decided to come and have an on-the spot assessment of the situation. I have reports about connivance,” Arase said.
He declared his zero tolerance for any police man who connives with a criminal gang to do anything, adding he has already ordered that the officer be put in custody, as the law is no respecter of persons.
The IGP urged the community to remain law abiding and vigilant, while commending their partnership with the police in aborting the devastation of the environment.
The community had alleged yesterday, that those killed in the incident had either their hearts ripped off, or their fingers cut off, adding that one of the bodies of those killed in the incident was recovered last night.
