Kidnapped Osun Officials Regain Freedom

Adebimpe OgunlumadeThree officials of the Osun State Government, who were kidnapped last week in Kogi State, have been released by their abductors.
Unknown gunmen had last Friday laid siege to the Obajana-Lokoja road where they abducted the Permanent Secretary of Osun State Ministry of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Adebimpe Ogunlumade alongside her driver, Oladapo Ajani, and a director from the ministry, Tajudeen Badejoko.
The victims were reportedly taken into a nearby bush by their abductors, while the official vehicle in which they were traveling was abandoned on the road side.
They were said to be on their way from Abuja, where they had gone to represent the state when they were abducted.
The Head of Service in Osun, Sunday Owoeye, announced on Sunday that the trio were released unharmed on Sunday evening.
“Arrangements are now being made to convey them to Osogbo within the shortest possible time by security agents with a view to re-uniting them with their families and relations”, Mr. Owoeye said in a statement posted by an aide to Governor Rauf Aregbesola on Facebook.
The statement was, however, silent on details of how they were freed.
