The Senate today laid the revamped Petroleum Industry & Governance Bill for First Reading.
“With this simple but pivotal action, the Senate has demonstrated its commitment to seeing that the Nigerian economy is restructured for much-needed recovery,” Senate President Bukola Saraki said in a Facebook post.
“Despite the unnecessary distractions that have presented themselves in recent times, the legislature is fully committed to putting the Nigerian people first and solving our pressing national issues,” he wrote.
Saraki also disclosed that the Bill to Amend the Public Procurement Act to provide for the adoption of a Local Content Policy and timely completion of Procurement processes passed its Second Reading at the Senate.
He noted that the amendment would ensure that as a matter of law, agencies of government patronise made in Nigeria goods.
