Minister of Science and Technology Ogbonanya Onu says President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration has succeeded in removing impunity in governance.
Onu said this when he paid a courtesy call to the headquarters of News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Abuja on Friday.
“Impunity has no place in government establishments since the current administration came on board while security of lives and property in the North-East has improved tremendously.
“This administration has achieved a lot in the past one year, the most important achievement is his effort to stabilise the polity.
“All the impunity that people used to associate with governance, we don’t have them anymore.
“People now sit back and think before they do anything because they know there could be penalty, we need situation like this to effectively mobilise and utilise resources that we have in this country.
“Security challenges in the North-East have been drastically reduced, territories earlier controlled by the insurgents are now
recaptured by the military and no more foreign flags flying in those places.
“Many of our people kidnapped have been freed by the military and the operation is still on.
“Before, the image of the company was not so impressive, the military were unable to buy needed weapons to fight insurgents even with cash, but today Nigeria is now the toast of all nations,” he said.
The minister said that government effort to rebuild the economy was on. He said that the economy would witness significant turnaround once the 2016 budget became operational.
