The Governor of Taraba State, Darius Ishaku, has lamented that business people are scared of investing in the state due to insecurity.
The Governor, who made the disclosure in a parley with newsmen in Jalingo, the state capital yesterday, said his attempts to woo investors had failed as they complained of insecurity.
“We have huge potentials in solid minerals, agriculture and tourism but the investors we contacted refused to come for fear of insecurity”, he said, specifying that the Gashaka Gumti National Park was suffering low patronage because insecurity, especially along roads leading to it, was scaring tourists off.
Mr. Ishaku also stated that the Nwoyo annual international fishing festival in Ibi had to be suspended due to rampant crisis in the area.
Gov. Ishaku, however, said that the problem of insecurity was being addressed to make the state a safe haven for investors.
