An independent oil marketer in Ekiti State, AMSEK Oil and Gas Limited, has denied an allegation by the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, that it was involved in diversion of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), otherwise known as petrol.
The Ekiti APC in a statement about two weeks ago, accused Governor Ayodele Fayose of using some independent oil marketers, including AMSEK, to divert PMS allocation to the state to other states and selling the product above the official pump price.
The party said the governor’s aim was to frustrate President Muhammadu Buhari’s effort at ending the fuel scarcity and paint the administration black before the people of the state. But the Managing Director of AMSEK, Bayo Ekiran, in a statement yesterday, denied the allegation.
Ekiran said his company had never been involved in any shady deal or sharp practice in the oil and gas business. He pointed out that he is not a politician but a businessman interested in contributing his quota to the development of Ekiti.
The oil magnate said his organization, established about 16 years ago, was built on the core values of integrity, patriotism, transparency and truth.
“We are committed to contribute our quota to the development of Ekiti State irrespective of which party is in power as I, Bayo Ekiran, do not belong to any political party and I don’t intend to belong to any as I am fully focused on my business”.
