The Enugu State command of the Nigeria police force has commenced investigations into the alleged brutal rape of a teenage orphan at gun point by a carpenter.
Sources said the suspect, identified as Casmir Eze, from Umugoji Orba in Udenu local lovernment area of the state had at about 2am on the fateful day, allegedly gained entrance into the compound of the teenage girl, identified as Marcillus Ogechi and forced the victim to open her door.
It was further gathered that when the suspect succeeded in opening the door, he swiftly pointed a gun at his victim and had carnal knowledge of her.
A statement from the Enugu State police public relations officer, Ebere Amaraizu, which confirmed the sad development , stated that the suspect has confirmed the allegation but maintained that it was the devil that pushed him into the act.
“It was further gathered when the victim who was warned not to shout or alert neighbours opened the door, the suspect who allegedly was covering his face with scarf went into the room and allegedly pointed a gun to the victim and commanding her to switch off the lantern in the room and thereafter forcefully ponced on the victim and had carnal knowledge of her.
“Angered by this and unknown that he was identified by the victim,the victim reported to the relations who assisted her to report to the police, leading to the identification and the arrest of the suspect who is now helping the police operatives in their investigations.
“The suspect in his word confirmed the allegation and maintained that it was the devil that pushed him into the act.According to him,I dont know what came over me although,I have been targetting how to get the girl since and no way hence I had to come through this way,”he said.
