On this day in 2013;A Kenyan High Court ordered police to reinvestigate complaints of rape by 11 girls in a landmark case brought by a children’s charity on behalf of more than 240 victims of child rape.

Reports say some of the victims were as young as three years old.

Mercy Chidi, who runs the Ripples International children’s charity in Meru, Kenya, filed a petition on behalf of the girls, who came to the charity for help after being raped by fathers, grandfathers, uncles, police officers and neighbours.

Also on this day in 2013;President Goodluck Jonathan, gave a robust defence of his administration’s performance at mid-term and dismissed public and media assessment of his ministers, saying the criticisms were mostly bereft of objectivity.

Equally on this day in 2012; Alleged threat by an Islamic sect to bomb Makurdi, Benue State capital stalled Democracy Day celebration in the city as the state government unofficially cancelled events. The development forced the people who had thronged the Ibrahim Babangida, IBB, Square, venue of the ceremony to turn back home disappointed.

And on this day in 2012;The police in Kaduna,  detonated an improvised explosive device, IED, concealed in a television set and planted at Katsina roundabout on Ahmadu Bello Way. The Former Commissioner of Police in kaduna, Mr Jinjiri Abubakar, who confirmed the incident, said the explosive was planted around 4 a.m. and was found around 6 a.m.
