‘Aisha Buhari Was Involved In Halliburton Scandal’ -Fayose

Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose is fighting back in the media following reports that he is under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

His accounts have been frozen by the EFCC as investigations begin but Governor Fayose is determined to have the last word.

In a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Fayose said,

“Even the President cannot claim to be an angel, the estate he built in Abuja is known to us. His wife was indicted over the Halliburton Scandal (sic). When that American, Jefferson, was being sentenced, the President’s wife was mentioned as having wired $170,000 to Jefferson. Her name was on page 25 of the sentencing of Jefferson. We can serialize the judgment for people to see and read.”

Mr. Fayose’s Special assistant on New Media distributed a link to the U.S. Department of Justice Web site showing court documents where Mrs. Buhari was alleged to have transferred suspicious funds to a convicted former American congressman, Williams Jefferson.

Williams Jefferson, a former member of the U.S House of Representatives was convicted in 2009 on charges of bribery and corruption and was sentenced to 13 years in prison- the longest ever sentence handed to a member of Congress.

The documents show that a Mrs. Buhari transferred $170,000 to Williams Jefferson through a proxy.
