Officials have confirmed that 32 soldiers were killed on Saturday at the Niger-Nigeria border.
A statement from Niger’s defense ministry confirmed that “On Friday, hundreds of assailants of Boko Haram attacked” the position of the army of Bosso, the ministry said in a statement on Saturday, giving a “provisional toll” of 32 soldiers killed and 67 wounded.
“On the enemy’s side, several dead and injured were taken away,”
“The counter-offensive conducted early this morning helped to retake control of all the positions in the city of Bosso. The situation is under control”,
The attack is believed to have been carried out by the terror group Boko Haram.
Boko Haram runs rampant in Nigeria and Niger despite regional attempts to arrest the malaise.
Two Nigerian soldiers were said to have been killed in Saturday’s attack.
