Court Grants Saraki, Ekweremadu Bail In Forgery Case

A Federal High court sitting in Abuja has granted the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, the deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu and two others bail.

The former Clerk of the Senate as well as the Deputy clerk, Salisu Maikasuwa, and Benedict Efeturi were also all grated bail by the court in a ruling by Justice Haliru Yusuf after they all entered ‘not guilty’ pleas to the charges against them,=.

The quartet are facing charges of forging the Senate’s Standing Rule which saw the emergence of Bukola Saraki as Senate President on June 9, 2015. All defendants have reportedly met their bail conditions as the  Director of Public Prosecution, office of the Attorney-General of the Federation, Mohammed Diri also disclosed that a counter affidavit will be filed.
