Igbos Will Continue To Prosper Despite Recent Unprovoked Killings – Ohakim

Ikedi OhakimA Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain and former Governor of Imo State, Dr. Ikedi Ohakim, has described the recent killings involving persons of Igbo extraction in different parts of the country as a futile attempt at suppressing the Igbo spirit, which he said is indomitable.
The former governor said no matter how hard the killers, who he labeled enemies of Nigeria try, they will never succeed in pushing the Igbo nation into taking actions that may be deemed unwise.
Particularly irked by the killing of unarmed members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, last week by security agencies in Asaba, Delta State during a procession to mark the 50th anniversary of the declaration of the defunct Biafra Republic by late warlord, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, and the recent murder of an Igbo trader in Kano State for alleged blasphemy, Mr. Ohakim lamented “the unprecedented rate of injustice, intimidation and marginalisation of the Igbo people by a section of people who are actually the enemies of Nigeria, rather than the enemies of Ndi Igbo”.
According to him: “Those who have made it a duty to provoke the Igbos into violence are the real enemies of Nigeria, because no one who loves Nigeria will want to provoke the most industrious, progressive, creative and most patriotic ethnic group in the country. Those who love Nigeria are the ones who will promote peace and unity of the country.
“The Igbos will continue to prosper, we shall continue to win and we shall not be intimidated. That Chike who is in the most remote part of Kano State; Ifeanyi in Jigawa or Emeka in Osun State, is there, not because he does not have a home to go to, but because he is a patriotic Nigerian who wishes to contribute his quota to the development of all parts of Nigeria”.
