Messi Appears In Court To Give Testimony In Tax Fraud Case

Barcelona and Argentine striker, Lionel Messi has arrived at a Spanish court to give testimony in a tax fraud case. Spanish authorities charged Lionel Messi and his father Jorge of using shell companies outside Spain to avoid paying taxes of up to £3.2million.

The trial began on Wednesday as the 28 year old will take the stand to explain why he did not pay taxes on image rights for a period spanning 2007-2009.

Messi claims he did not have any knowledge of any of the transactions and his defense is even going as far as to suggest that his signature was falsified on some of the contracts.
