Yobe Donates N2.5m To Baby Born With Heart Outside Her Chest

baby-Aisha-heart-YobeRelief has come the way of baby Aisha Mustapha, the baby born with her heart outside the chest wall, as the Yobe State Government has donated the sum of N2.5million for her to undergo a surgical operation.
Baby Aisha was born penultimate Sunday at Gonigori village, Gaidam Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The infant came to public reckoning when a photo of her in hospital surfaced on the internet with pleas going out to the government and kind-spirited individuals to come to the aid of her parents who are peasants and cannot afford the cost of surgery, which was put at N3million.
The Yobe State Government’s donation is coming on the heels of the disclosure by Zahra Buhari that her mother and wife of the president, Aisha Buhari, has promised to take up the medical bills of baby Aisha.
Confirming the donation of the Yobe State Government, the Chairman, Medical Advisory Council of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, where baby Aisha is currently admitted, Dr. Mohammed Bashir Tahir, said that “the governor has just spoken personally to me now. Yobe State Government has donated the sum of N2.5million for the treatment of the baby”.
“This is a very good gesture coming from the Yobe State Government and we are pleased with this kind of intervention”, Dr. Bashir said on Monday.
He also confirmed that Mrs. Buhari has promised to take care of the cost of the operations.
“We hope to fly the baby to Ghana for the surgery tomorrow (Tuesday) God’s willing”, said Bashir.
