Airtel Scoop Two Awards At Nigerian Telecoms Awards


Airtel Nigeria bagged two major gongs yesterday at the Nigerian Telecoms Awards, beating competitions to emerge the Customer Service Operator Telecom Company of the Year while the company’s Chief Executive, Mr Segun Ogunsanya won the Telecoms CEO of the Year awards.

The telecoms company which is owned by Bharti, an Indian integrated telecommunications company with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa, started in Nigeria as Econet in 2001.

It has transited through four companies, Vodacom, V Mobile, Celtel and Zain, before ending up with the Indian Bharti. Bharti-Airtel took over in November 2010.
