Three Armed Robbers To Die By Hanging In Delta

Three persons have been sentenced to death by hanging by an Ogwashi-Uku High Court sitting in Delta State for their involvement in armed robbery.

Two bus drivers, Okechukwu Mba, 30, Christian Joseph, 28, and a conductor, Ekwe Nwomah, 31, were convicted for an offence bordering on conspiracy in count 1 and armed robbery in count IV by the presiding judge, Justice A.O.Akpovi

In his statement, Prosecuting inspector, Martins Omakor had told the Court that the trio on the 13th of July, 2007 committed series of armed robbery operations at Kwale junction, Ogwashi-Uku by invading the houses of residents and disposing them of monies and valuables while armed with guns.

The prosecutor further revealed to the court that luck frowned on them when they tried to force their way into one of the houses they visited, unknown to them the occupant of the house was a Police Inspector.

The policeman opened fire on them, hitting one with bullets on the chest while the others fled thinking he was dead. He was subsequently apprehended the next day by residents and handed over to the police.
