On this day in 2013: Sudanese President, Omar al-Bashir came to Nigeria for an African Union summit on HIV/AIDS, as his hosts chose to ignore an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant against him.

Also on this day in 2011: German Chancellor, Angela Merkel met with President Goodluck Jonathan, after her trip to Angola the previous day sparked controversy over an offer to sell patrol boats.  Markel was with the former President to discuss energy and African security matters.  The German Chancellor was welcomed by a military guard at the Presidential palace in Abuja.

Equally on this day in 2013;The Bayelsa State Police Command, , carpeted the 4th Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Benin City over the arrest and parading  of a police inspector, Nanagha Aduomeni, for alleged involvement in armed robbery along  Bomadi Road  in Delta State.

And on this day in 2015;GOVERNOR Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State accused the former Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala of illegally taking $1 billion from the Federation Account to prosecute the re-election bid of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

  1. Truly then Oshiomole tried to drag Okonjo Iweala down, but Okonjo Iweala’s good work spoke for her and she rose gallantly against his plot. Now, history thanks Okonjo Iweala for a job well done in Nigeria.

  2. It is obvious that Oshiomole’s allegations were baseless and untrue and his insistence then was because he had an issue with Okonjo Iweala, so he was trying to prosecute her wrongly.

  3. Thank God for history, it is on records that Oshiomole tried to use his position and connection as the sitting Governor of a state to discount Madam Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala’s contributions and achievements while she brilliantly served her mother land.

  4. Dr Okonjo-Iweala has since been vindicated despite the numerous accusation levelled against her by a notorious governor whose motive was born out of mere envy and pride. He just could not get over the fact that Okonjo-Iweala didn’t give room for governors to plunder public funds.

  5. The same woman that was bad-mouthed by the likes of greedy Oshiomole is one the most sort after technocrats in the world. She has proved over an over again that she is a gift and a blessing to our nation.
