On this day in 2015, Hundreds of Muslim faithful that converged for late evening prayers at Umar Ibn Khattab located along Zaria road by Zoo road roundabout escaped death by whiskers when a 13 years old female suicide bomber prevented from entering the mosque blew herself up 50 meters away.

According to an eye witness, Sulaiman Ibrahim, an unsuspecting police officer that escorted the teenage bomber across the busy road lost his ear lobe.

He said the teenage bomber attempted to enter the mosque but was frustrated by local vigilantes guarding the mosque. He explained that barely five munutes after the encounter with the vigilante, a loud bang was heard.
