The militant group, Niger Delta Avengers, has denied meeting with the Minister of Youths and Sports, Solomon Dalung, in Oporoza, Gbaramatu kingdom of Delta State.
The minister had while speaking to a selected group of journalists at the end of a stakeholder’s meeting of the Southern senatorial zone of Plateau State in Shendam at the weekend, claimed to have undertaken a two-hour journey on the sea to Oporoza in Gbaramatu kingdom, where he met with the leadership of the NDA.
According to Dalung, at the end of the meeting with the militants, they gave him a sealed hand-written letter listing their demands, for onward transmission to President Muhammadu Buhari.
The militant group, however, denied meeting with the minister, saying he must have been defrauded by some Niger Deltans posing as the NDA.
In a statement on Monday by its spokesperson, ‘Brigadier General’ Mudoch Agbinibo, the NDA said Mr. Dalung was “played by Niger Delta fraudsters”.
The statement reads: “Niger Delta Avengers can’t stoop so low to send representatives to meet with a common Minister of youths that doesn’t know his work. Minister of Youths and Sports, Solomon Dalung has been defrauded and played by Niger Delta Fraudsters. He didn’t have any meeting with us (Niger Delta Avengers). Let’s make this clear, any meeting with Niger Delta Avengers that the International communities are not part to witness, we (Niger Delta Avengers) will not be part of any such dialogue as well”.
