The Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom has directed sanitation agencies, residents and traders to start clearing all blocked drainage and cleaning of flood-prone areas including the Wurukum market to mitigate this year’s impending flood.
The governor gave the directive while on an inspection tour of flood prone areas and other projects within the state capital, in a bid to make residents aware of the looming danger of flood and enhance their participation in sanitation processes.
Ortom who also visited the Northern part of the state where erosion has washed off some parts of the area due to indiscriminate dumping of waste at a public primary school said he wants everybody to be on their toes as regards this year’s flood.
I salute your(Mr Ortom) public enlightenment campaign on the causes and dangers of flooding, this is a step in the right direction.
