Head Of Ireland’s Olympic Council Arrested For ‘Illegal Ticket Sales’

Brazilian Police have confirmed that the President of the Olympic Council of Ireland has been arrested on Wednesday at the ongoing Rio 2016 Olympic games.

Patrick Hickey was arrested in Rio De Janeiro in connection with a scheme which involved the illegal sales of Olympic tickets. Hickey’s part of the grand scheme was to pass on the tickets to black market scalpers who would then sell them at higher rates.

The tickets he was passing on had already been stamped as having been given to the OCT.

Police on Wednesday said Patrick Hickey, president of Olympic Council of Ireland (OCI), was involved in illegally passing on Olympics tickets to scalpers who subsequently sold them at exorbitant prices. 71-year old Hickey reportedly attempted to escape when police arrived at his hotel room in order to arrest him.
