US Secretary of State John Kerry arrived Nigeria earlier today, where he meet with the Sultan of Sokoto at his Palace.
The top Diplomat was in the State to discuss counter-terrorism efforts with Political and religious leaders from the region.
While at the palace, Mr. Kerry also delivered a speech on the importance of resilient communities and religious tolerance in battling violent extremism.
Kerry will later today travel to Abuja to meet President Muhammadu Buhari. The Diplomat is expected to discuss the state of the economy with President Buhari during his trip to the capital.
The visit, likely the last by a major American official during the Obama administration, comes as the two countries have gradually been stepping up their cooperation after a period of strained relations.
