Suspected Kidnapper Remanded In Prison In Edo

A 28-year-old man that goes by the name Salisu Muhammed, has been remanded in prison custody by an Oredo Chief Magistrates’ Court in Benin on Thursday for alleged kidnapping of one Ibrahim Danladi.

The prosecutor, Mr D.E. Emmanuel, in his statement accused the suspect of kidnapping Danladi on July 16 in Benin the Edo State

Emmanuel added that the offence contravened Section 4 of the Kidnapping Prohibition (Amended) Law of Edo, 2013.

The accused Salisu pleaded not guilty to the charge bordering on kidnapping.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs M.C. Ogobo who refuse the plea of the accused said the court lacked jurisdiction to entertain such case.

Ogobo said that the duplicate copy of the case file would be sent to state Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advise.

She adjourned the case till Sept. 30, for mention.
