We Must Avoid Past Mistakes – Buhari

PMBPresident Muhammadu Buhari has disclosed that Nigeria recognized her problems early enough, but remained a potential for too long and so did not achieve much results.

He, however, stressed that the trend must be reversed by avoiding the mistakes made in the past.

Buhari made this known when he received executive members of Association of Africa Automotive Manufacturers led by its chairman, Mr. Jeff Nemeth, yesterday at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja yesterday.

“We must avoid the mistakes made in the past by both government and manufacturers, and we are ready to get investment from all quarters, so that we can improve the lives of our people”, he said.

Buhari, who said Nigeria failed to develop on automobile initiatives started in Bauchi, Kaduna and Ibadan, also lamented that the country relied too much on oil as mainstay of her economy.

The president noted that his government was making efforts towards reviving its steel industry, saying “I see vast opportunities for both the country and those who invest here”.

In his remarks, Nemeth expressed the association’s readiness to offer strategic partnership with Nigeria, adding that it wanted to promote investor-friendly regulatory frameworks and sustainable manufacturing.
