The Zamfara State Police Command has lifted the curfew imposed on Talata-Mafara and its environs on Monday, August 22 following a mob attack that led to the killing of eight persons over alleged blasphemy against Islam.
A dusk-to-dawn curfew was imposed on the town to prevent further breakdown of law and order by the mob, believed to be students of Abdu Gusau Polytechnic, which was also shut down following the attacks.
A statement signed by the command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Shehu Muhammad in Gusau, the state capital on Saturday, announced the lifting of the curfew.
Mr. Muhhammad, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), advised parents to ensure that their children remain law abiding and warned that anyone caught causing trouble would face the full wrath of the law.
