Aleksander Ceferin Elected UEFA President

The head of the Football Association of Slovenia, Aleksander Ceferin has been elected the new president of European Football body, UEFA.

The election was held during a UEFA congress in Athens where he defeated his closest rival, Michael van Praag. Ceferin will hold the position until 2019, providing he has a scandal-free regime unlike his predecessor, Michel Platini, who was banned from football-related activity following allegations of corruption.
