The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, changes cars almost more than he changes his shoes.

However, even his designer shoes are no match for his expensive taste in wheels.

Over the weekend, the royal father shared a photo of his brand-new model vehicle which cost him around half a million dollars.

The new motor is a Rolls Royce Phantom, the base model of which starts at $250,000 – and of course the Emir is not about to have the standard.

Taking the car to even high price brackets, the stylish traditional ruler had some custom work done before it was delivered at the palace.

While the Phantom is the newest of Sanusi’s cars, he has had plenty of experience behind the wheel of several high-end automobiles in the past.

With this new acquisition, the Emir now has at least two Rolls Royce, both models in the Phantom line.

About the car

In the world of art, the Baroque period is often characterized as Renaissance with the volume turned up to 11. In the same vein, the Rolls-Royce Phantom is a luxury sedan with levels of opulence, prestige and grandiosity dialed up to the maximum degree.

In keeping with Rolls-Royce tradition, the Phantom uses an enormous naturally-aspirated twelve-cylinder engine. It displaces 6.75 liters and produces 453 horsepower at 5350 rpm and 531 pound-feet of torque at 3500 rpm.

New for the latest model is an eight-speed automatic transmission, which helps the rear-drive Phantom waft from zero-to-60 mph in under six second despite the sedan’s massive 5,800-pound curb weight. Fuel economy is about what one would expect – 11 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway.
