Herbalist and client die during money ritual sacrifice

A 60-year-old herbalist, Kareemu Okeyode and his 51-year-old client, Oladele Bakare, were confirmed dead on Wednesday, September 7, during a money ritual sacrifice.

The Nation reports that Okeyode entered his “sacred room” with Bakare in the morning after he had prepared many fetish objects, including an incense powder, for the said ritual. But the attention of the neighbours was drawn to them after they stopped hearing their incantations in the ‘sacred room’ for a long time.

When they knocked on the door in the afternoon, no one answered. This made them force the door open and the dead bodies of the two men were seen on the floor. They alerted the police about the discovery.

The acting police spokesman Abimbola Oyeyemi said that the two men were pulled out of the room naked. Oyeyemi said the two men locked themselves up in the “sacred room” during the ritual and that “it was very likely that they died of suffocation in the room suffused with the smoke of burning incense”.
