Man Nabbed For Impersonating VP Osinbajo, Defrauding People

Eseosasere Gift Osifo, 44, has appeared before an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court over alleged impersonation of the Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo and fraud, Vanguard reports.

Osifo was said to be in court for creating a Facebook account, using details of Osinbajo, to defraud unsuspecting victims.

According to the Prosecutor, Mr Onoche Ekwom, the accused used the account to extort money from unsuspected victims on several occasions between January and August before he was arrested and brought to the court.

He said the offence contravened Sections 484 and 422 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol. 11, Laws of Osun, 2002.

The Osifo however pleaded not guilty to the two-count charges of impersonation and fraud.

He was granted bail in the sum of N500,000 and two sureties in the like sum by the Magistrate, Mrs Sodamade Fatimoh.
