The National Youths Service Corps, NSYC, has said it will commence the bio-metric verification of corp members across the nation in October.

The Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier Sule Kazaure on Tuesday made this statement in Katsina at the training organized for staff in the seven states of the North-Western geo political zone.

The NYSC chief who told participants that all logistics for the project are ready, said though the pilot project for the verification exercise took off in Lagos and Abuja, the positive results gathered have made it necessary to extend the process to other states of the federation.

Brigadier Sule, who was represented by the Director of Planning and Statistics,Chief Anthony Ani ,said: “The introduction of biometric verification of Corp members which took off in Lagos and FCT as pilot has greatly improved the efficiency of Corps members hence the need to extend the process to other states of the federation.

“In 2014, the scheme made the giant leap from the manual system of mobilization, deployment, registration and relocation of corps member to the current ICT-based system.

“The idea is to ensure efficiency and effective management of our operations in line with current technological trends.

“Since its commencement, the initiative has not only proved its efficacy but it has also helped in stemming the tide of unwholesome practices by some stakeholders,” he said.
