A cemetery worker in Ogun State, Oluwatosin Akorede, has been arrested by the Police with two human skulls.
He was arrested at the Isale Oko area of Sagamu on Sunday at about 7.00pm by vigilant policemen on patrol.
A statement issued yesterday by the Ogun Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said Akorede, who worked in a cemetery along Aiyepe road, was arrested by a team of policemen during a patrol led by the Divisional Police Officer of Shagamu, Moses Aduroja.
During interrogation, the suspect was said to have confessed to planning to use the human skulls for ritual purposes.
The police spokesman said preliminary investigations suggest Akorede exhumed dead bodies in some graves at the cemetery he used to work until his arrest, and retrieved their skulls.
The statement added that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, directed that the suspect be transferred to the Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.
There has been a spike in the arrest of Nigerians with human skulls for ritual purposes in recent times with four teenagers nabbed in Akwa Ibom while trying to sell human skull and yet four others, for being in possession of a human skull along the Enugu-Abakaliki expressway.
