The wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, has alluded to the fact that her husband, President Muhammadu Buhari, is surrounded by many people, who are reaping where they did not sow.
This is just as she said the development may be responsible for the crisis currently threatening to tear apart the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) as many members of the party believe their contribution towards the president’s victory in the last general elections, has not been rewarded.
In an interview with the Hausa Service of the British Broadcasting Corporation, BBC, which was partially aired Tuesday, Aisha said “This worries us a lot now”, in apparent reference to the APC crisis.
“Because they believe they are the ones who suffered, but are nowhere today. Those who didn’t do anything who don’t even have voters’ card are the ones in position, doing everything”, she added.
A portion of the interview further quoted the wife of the president as saying “What I am afraid for them is the rebellion of 15 million people”, in what is believed to be an allusion to the number of the people who voted her husband into power in 2015.
In response to the question if President Buhari knows those causing trouble for his government, Mrs. Aisha Buhari said “Whether he knows or he doesn’t know, those who voted for him know. There is nothing I will tell him. He can see. Among all the people he selected, if he is asked among 50 people, he doesn’t know 45. I don’t know them despite staying with him for 25 years”.
The BBC will later air the interview in full.
