Buratai Calls For Reinforcement In The Fight Against Terrorism

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buaratai, has called for intensified concerted onslaught against the Boko Haram insurgents in the country.

Buratai who described the recent killing of a Nigerian Army super warrior, Lt. Col. Muhammad Abu Ali, as one loss too many, said it was imperative to find a national and indeed a global solution to the terrorism challenge in the country.

The Army Chief made the comment while speaking with journalists shortly after declaring open a seminar with the theme ‘Assessing the threats of Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria’ at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Abuja on Monday.

The Army Chief observed that the insurgents were getting clandestine support from some elements within the society and from other bodies like the ISIS.

Buratai who called for the cooperation of Nigerians in the fight against insurgency said the deceased Commanding Officer of the 272 Task Force Battalion, Ali, would not die in vain.

The late commander reputed for extraordinary acts of bravery who was on deployment in Mallam Fatori after an earlier attack on troops location would be buried at the military cemetery on Monday.

He said, “It is incumbent on  all of us to really reflect, to understand that we are really in a situation where need to ensure that the fight against insurgency received total support from everybody. 

“This a loss too many that we just have to find a collective effort by all Nigerians and indeed globally to ensure that terrorism is seriously fought to the end. It is a situation where we really need to work together, to synergise together.
