Borussia Dortmund and Legia Warsaw played out an entertaining group F encounter in the UEFA Champions League. Beyond the superb victory for Dortmund who now go top of Group F, the match ended 8-4, setting a European record for the highest number of goals scored in a UCL group game. They broke the record Monaco set in 2003 after beating Deportivo La Coruna 8-3.
The game burst into life quickly with Legia scoring almost after kickoff and Dortmund replying quickly with two goals of their own. By the 22nd minute, the game had recorded seven goals and it ended in true record breaking fashion.
The match recorded eight different goalscorers as Legia Warsaw became the first team in the UEFA Champions league tp score four goals and still lose a match. Marco Reus had a fantastic evening as he scored a hat-trick on his return to action after an injury spell.
