Marilyn Monroe’s Dress Sold At Auction For $4.8 million

A dress belonging to iconic actress, Marilyn Monroe has been sold at an auction for $4.8 millíon, the highest amount ever paid for a dress. The Jean Louis gown which is adorned with over 2,500 hand stitched crystals is the same dress in which she sang ‘Happy Birthday Mr. President’ to John. F. Kennedy on his 45th birthday.


The dress, which was reportedly so figure hugging she had to be sewn into it was bought by the ‘Believe it or not’ Museum chain and the company’s vice President described the gown as the “most iconic piece of pop culture that there is”.

Monroe died of a drug overdose three months after her famous person of ‘Happy Birthday Mr. President’ and left most of her personal possession to her acting coach, Lee Strasberg.
