Nigerian Gay Activist Bisi Alimi Gets Married

Nigerian gay-rights activist Bisi Alimi has gotten married to his lover, Anthony.

The 41-year-old HIV/LGBT advocate gained international recognition when he became the first Nigerian to announce his sexuality publicly.

In 2004, he became the first Nigerian gay man to appear on Nigerian national television as a guest on Funmi Iyanda‘s show New Dawn with Funmi.

He has continued his advocacy on gay rights within migrant African communities in the UK, and in June, he met and had a chat with global transgender icon Caitlyn Jenner, at the Aspen Ideas conference in Colorado, USA.

Alimi had announced in June that his wedding was to take place November.

He also revealed via social media the Nigerian Anglican priest who would officiate the wedding 2 weeks ago.

Alimi and Anthony have been documenting their romance on Instagram.

  1. This is not allowed in Nigeria. Why do you idiots carry it as a news in Nigeria? Is it meant to show how un-natural and unGodly homosexuality is or is it giving it an upper hand into pseudo-positivity? This is not and will never be a good news. Don’t put it on here as a news next time.
