The Ogun State Police Command has arrested one Julius Afolabi for allegedly operating an illegal clinic and maternity home in Abule-Iroko, in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state.

He was said to have been arrested on Tuesday.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said trouble started when the suspect allegedly collected N200,000 from one Funmi Adelaja for a fibroid operation, but was unable to remove the fibroid.

He said the failure prompted Adelaja to report the case at the Sango Police Station.

He said, “The Divisional Police Officer of the station detailed detectives to investigate the case and it was discovered that the self-acclaimed doctor and medical Director of Adeolu Afolabi Clinic and Maternity Home has never gone through any formal training that can qualify him to operate such outfit.”

Oyeyemi, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, said the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, had ordered more investigation into the case with a view to charging the culprit to court on conclusion of the investigation.
