Suspected cult member arraigned for murder

The police on Wednesday arraigned two suspected members of the Aiye Confraternity for murder before a Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State.

The prosecutor, Mr. Mereti Wilson, told the court that the accused – Adebayo Saheed and Razaki Jamiu – killed Shina Akinwale and Adekunle Badmus and also inflicted injuries on one Aderemi Adepoju.

The prosecutor said Badmus was killed on the football field of the Technical School, Osogbo, while Akinwale was killed in the Oke Oniti area.

The prosecutor said, “Adebayo Saheed and Razaki Jamiu, on August 15, 2016, at about 12.15pm, in the Oke-Oniti area, killed one Akinwale Shina by shooting him with a gun, thereby committing an offence contrary to Section 316 and punishable under Section 319(1) of the Criminal Code cap 34.,vol. II.”

“On the same date, time and place, Saheed and Razaki inflicted machete injuries in the head of one Adekunle Badmus, which caused his death.”

The accused pleaded not guilty.

Their counsel, M.O. Abiona, prayed the court to admit his clients to bail.

But the magistrate, Mrs. Habibat Bashiru, ordered that accused be remanded in the Ilesha Prison and adjourned the case till January 27, 2017.
