Suspected drug traffickers shot down a police helicopter in the city of God favela, Rio De Janeiro. 4 police officers have been confirmed dead in the crash after sustained gunfire brought down the helicopter which was providing air support against gangs in the area.

Although there have been no official reports from the police about the official cause of the crash, a video footage showed that it was shot down.

Violent crime is common in Rio De Janiero as drug traffickers run the favelas in ruthless fashion following the failure of the government to put them under control.
