No fewer than 13 passengers died at Otte, near Eyenkorin, on the Ilorin-Ogbomosho Expressway following an accident involving a trailer and a Hummer bus.

Our correspondent gathered on Thursday that the bus, which was coming from Kaduna State ran into the trailer which was parked in the middle of the road.

It was further gathered that all the occupants of the bus died following the accident which occurred on Wednesday.

Our correspondent further learnt that aggrieved members of Otte community went on the rampage later on Wednesday to protest against the victims’ death.

It was gathered that the protesters had wanted to set the truck ablaze, but were prevented by the police.

The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olusola Amore, confirmed the accident and the death of the passengers.

He said, “A trailer was left in the middle of the road. A bus loaded with passengers ran into the stationery vehicle and all the passengers died.

“We are working with the Kwara State Road and Transport Management Authority to tow the trailer. The owner and the driver of the trailer will answer for the way the trailer was parked before it caused the accident.”
