Rohr Confirms Mikel Obi Will Leave Chelsea In January

Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr, has confirmed that his captain, John Obi Mikel, will leave London club, Chelsea in January when he will become a free agent.
Mikel who has captained the Super Eagles to three victories against Tanzania, Zambia and Algeria to stand top on the 2018 FIFA World Cup African group B table has not seen Chelsea action since the beginning of the new season under Coach Antonio Conte.
The Coach has also told the Chelsea legend to look for another club, noting that he is not in his plans for the team.
Rohr who was in the NFF team that met with NIKE officials recently in London told newsmen that the Chelsea Midfielder had to leave the club because “he cannot stay in a club he is not playing”.
“He is moving come January transfer window. He cannot stay in a club he is not playing. So he has to move,” Rohr said, adding that some Super Eagles players who are not playing at their clubs may also leave the clubs.
Rohr spoke shortly after a meeting with Nike officials in London in connection with Super Eagles official kits. The meeting was also attended by NFF President, Amaju Pinnick, Mikel Obi and Eagles forward, Odion Ighalo, among others.
Clubs from China as well as France’s Olympique Marseille are some of the clubs that have inquired about the Nigerian captain.
The Super Eagles manager it was also gathered paid a “private” visit to Eagles goal keeper, Carl Ikeme in Wolverhampton to wish him a quick recovery from his injuries.
