Multiple Grammy Award winner, Ed Sheeran debuted a pair of comeback singles this morning (January 6).
The singer-songwriter, who released ‘Castle On The Hill’ and ‘Shape Of You’, revealed that one of the songs was written with Rihanna in mind.
Sheeran co-wrote ‘Castle On The Hill’ with pop producer Benny Blanco, with whom he also wrote 2014’s ‘Don’t’. ‘Shape Of You’ was co-written by Sheeran with Snow Patrol‘s Johnny McDaid and pop producer Steve Mac.
Speaking on the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show, Sheeran explained that he originally wrote “Shape Of You” at a writing camp for other artists and felt that it would go to Rihanna. It was only when he began writing lyrics about playing Van Morrison songs on a jukebox that he decided to keep it for himself.
Sheeran kicked off 2017 by announcing his return with two tracks from his forth coming album.
