Manchester United put in a command performance to power past Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday afternoon. Perhaps one of the memorable points of today’s match was a rare start for midfield castaway, Bastian Schweinsteiger.
United left it late in the first half to open the scoring as Schweinsteiger provided an assist to Maroaune Fellaini to open the scoring. Center-back, Chris Smalling doubled the advantage in the second half before Mhkityran and Schweinsteiger rounded up the scoring.
United manager, Jose Mourinho said after the win,
“We deserved to win. The first half wasn’t very good but we managed to lead 1-0 when we needed to play better.
“We knew they would be organised and play with aggression, would be very compact, and to break that down we needed to change a few things.
“The second half was much better. We deserved to win, the job is done and we are in the last 16. Overall I am happy with what we did.”
