Ibrahimovic missed United’s FA Cup win over Reading due to illness, while Rojo was substituted during the match thanks to a muscle problem. Speaking ahead of United’s derby clash with Liverpool, as quoted by the ESPN, Mourinho revealed he expects the pair to be ready for Sunday’s game.

“I think Rojo and Zlatan are available,” Mourinho confirmed. “I cannot confirm with 48 hours to the match but I think so.

“It (the match) is about three points, plus the emotional side of it. The emotional side of it, the fans, players in club for a long time, I think they understand the feeling better than I do.

“But I have been here a few months and I understand the dimension of the feeling of the rivalry — a good rivalry — and it is a very good thing for club. It is three points and no more than that, though.

“But for us, results are better than last time [Anfield game in October] and that changes a lot of things. At that time, I had less time to work, now I have more and know them better. We have a better way of playing, better performances, better results and we play this game at home, so it’s little details that change a bit.”

Rojo’s return to the United team has coincided with a terrific run in form for Mourinho’s side, with the team winning their last nine games in all competitions. The Argentina international has kept four clean sheets in 12 Premier League appearances, and has impressed partnering Phil Jones in the centre of United’s defence.
