Serena Williams will definitely hope to make a success of the Australian Open as it will give her the chance to take her number of grand slam titles to a record 23.
The 35-year-old American beat Britain’s Johanna Konta in yesterday’s Quarter final match, 6-2, 6-3 to end Konta’s nine-match winning streak and will now face 34-year-old unseeded Croat, Mirjana Lucic-Baroni in the Semi finals.
She was full of praise for Konta after the match as she said, “Johanna Konta has been playing so well,”
“I was in the locker room watching her clean up her matches. She is a future champion here for sure, so I am pleased to get through this.
“I got a little frustrated with my serve, but I told myself ‘don’t get Babyrena’ and focused on enjoying myself out here. Today I felt I can do this, it is such a great opportunity for me.”
