The Delta State government through the Ministry of Urban Development has approved the move by Isoko nation to generate 20MW of electricity.
The state approval was affirmed by the Commissioner for Urban Development, Karo Ilolo who represented the Delta State government while addressing a stakeholders’ meeting presided over by the President-General of Isoko Development Union (IDU), Chief Amadhe Iduh in conjunction with the Thames Vpower group at Chief James Ekpre Otobo hall in Isoko South Local Government Area, Oleh.
While emphasizing the economic importance of electricity in industrialization and development of Isoko nation through investment and increase in small scale business, Hon. Karo Ilolo noted that the project is dear to his heart and that of the state government as all modalities is being put in place to ensure Isoko nation is lightened.
He however, commended the efforts of the Isoko South and North Local Government Chairmen, Sir Constantine Ikpokpo and Hon. Emmanuel Egbabor as well as the President-General of Isoko Development Union (IDU), Chief Amadhe Iduh and the Thames Vpower group to ensure an uninterrupted power supplu in Isoko nation.
Also speaking at the occasion, the Managing Director, Thames Vpower group, Engr. Ben Ikpokpo noted that Isoko has the gas needed to generate the power 2,4,7 the state government has the land, the sub-station and the generating set assuring that his company will generate the power for onward distribution to consumers by the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC).
However, the Chief State Head for Delta State BEDC, Mr. Ernest Edgar disclosed their commitment as a team to the project doing everything humanly possible to meet expectations.
